The Maidenhair Tree, Ginkgo biloba.  Provided they are male trees, they make good street trees.  The female fruit smell like dog muck.  There has been some enlightened tree planting in the City of Cardiff.

These lifted trees have been sitting in the frost for at least a month without adequate root protection.  This tree nursery is badly run.  All these trees will probably die when planted.

Beech seedlings.  These are best protected from mice,  rabbits and deer to ensure survival past early growing seasons.  They will then develop tap roots and be truly mighty!

Plant more Oak trees in cities.  We do not get smog these days so they will grow well, especially on London clays.  Trouble with this idea is that people will then demand compensation they do not deserve when they discover that they can trip over an acorn.  What  has become of us that we are so manipulated by laws that allow this type of behaviour!

Good project planning... these new trees have been given all the root room downwards that they need.  So often trees are squeezed into little boxes of inert building material and then expected to flourish.  I guess it is the same for many disadvantaged people.
